Dynavox LW6004PMR 6-1/2" Woofer
Description :
Dynavox is the best kept secret in high end loudspeaker drivers. They were engineered in France and their motor structures were optimized using Finite Element Analysis techniques. The mid-bass drivers feature die cast frames, butyl rubber surrounds, one piece polypropylene cones and huge 3" voice coils. The unique motor structure uses magnets located inside the underhung voice coil. The result is a vast improvement in driver linearity and a reduction in harmonic distortions. They also feature vented spider and pole piece to reduce air compression and ensure maximum power handling. Specifications:* Power handling: 140 watts RMS/200 watts max * Voice coil diameter: 3" * Voice coil inductance: 1.01 mH * Nominal impedance: 8 ohms * DC resistance: 5.0 ohms * Frequency range: 55-5,000 Hz * Magnet weight: 20 oz. * Fs: 55 Hz * SPL: 87 dB 1W/1m * Vas: .38 cu. ft. * Qms: 1.94 * Qes: .76 * Qts: .41 * Xmax: 2.45 mm * Net weight: 4.85 lbs. * Dimensions: Overall Diameter: 6-7/8", Cutout Diameter: 5-3/8 ", Mounting Depth: 3-1/16", Magnet Diameter: 4-3/8". Just an isainly good driver for the money or at any price for that matter! I used these in a multidriver array speaker for the bass section in a large ported incloser, four per speaker, and the results were nothing short of spectacular! Very, Very well built and better than drivers I have heard costing hundreds more. Let me be perfectly clear, you will not find a better driver for this amount of money period!!
Great Midbass/Midrange

Jermdog from Northern KY I own twelve of these drivers (not a typo). I have four each in 3 cubic foot sealed enclosures for my front left, right and center. The enclosures are 1.5 inches thick, internally braced and dampened as well. I had these crossed over to use as lower midrange/midbass sections. However, after some experimentation, I also found that these drivers sound better without the use of a crossover. However, in my set up, the drivers were interfering with my midrange unit's higher frequencies. I added a new crossover at a much higher point than the original 700Hz. I am very pleased with the sound quality of each array. The speakers will play down to 45Hz with limited response. However, they offer a warmer bass response and uncolored midrange. My only gripe (if you can call it that) is the way the terminals are attached to the speaker itself. This makes driver cut-outs and mounting very difficult. This is a great product compared to several other drivers at higher prices. Another easy recommendation for anyone looking to get good response from any 6.5 inch woofer.
Excellent Replacement Driver (and then some)

Marine Design/Audiophile from Trinity, Texas For years we enjoyed our Infinity speakers in our living room system. We also have a theater, so this is our second system. The Infinity speakers were barely adequate I will say. When one was accidentally knocked off it's stand it fell 4 feet and the main driver was destroyed (basket bent due to the weight of the magnet pulling the basket out of design spec upon impact). So I ordered these two drivers to replace them in both speakers - because they matched the proper specifications for that driver. Upon playing them for the first time we were actually shocked at the difference these made. These boxes actually now rival some of our higher level audiophile grade speakers. We had to re-adjust the system to bring them down to match the mains, which are at the top of the Energy speakers lineup. With these drivers they are an excellent match-up with the Energy mains and B&W center channel. The second system now "rocks" so to speak. These drivers are good enough to where we are considering using them in our new speaker assembly shop. For the investment you cannot go wrong here. These are fantastic! I have been in the music business for 30 years, a decade at the pro level, and am considering the jump from Marine Engineering to full-time audio system design/building. So my expertise is quite a few levels above average, and what I am saying here is that with proper level of design experience these could be used in a very high end speaker cabinets with excellent results. Its all in the engineering. This is a quality driver.
