Background Information / History:
 
The XES system holds a very special place in car audio history. When it was introduced it was (and probably still is) the most sophisticated and refined system ever implemented in the car audio environment. The premise behind the system was to modularize each component from the sources to the amplifiers so that each component was designed as its own system. This allowed audiophiles to mix and match the components they needed for their individual system needs. Thousands of IASCA and USAC competition titles have been won with this system (remember Earl Zausman's 5-series BMW?).
 
In recent years the car audio market has shifted away from the audiophile community and caters mainly to the "boomer" generation. The quality of components these days are more driven by low price and high margins than the soul and passion of making great sounding and robust products. As you look through the specifications below you can understand how no design or component expense was spared when this system was created. You can also understand why you will never see many of these features in any system you can buy today.
